How Much Does Membership Cost?
Annual membership of the Cine-Club is £20 (£10 for full-time students upon presentation of a valid student ID card).
How Do I Pay?
To become a member, please send a cheque for £20.00 (£10.00 for students) payable to: "Canada House Cine-Club / Friends of Canada House" to:
Derek Linfield Canada House Cine-Club c/o Stikeman Elliott LLP Dauntsey House 4B Frederick's Place London EC2R 8AB
Payments can also be made via PayPal. Click on http://www.paypal.co.uk, choose "Send Money" and send to ch_cineclub@hotmail.com.
What do I get as a Member?
Members can reserve two tickets at £4 each (on a first to book, first served basis). Additional tickets are available for guests of members at £5. Non-members can purchase tickets for £8. Pre-film drinks (6:45 pm - 7:30 pm) are complimentary. PRICES MAY CHANGE WITHOUT NOTICE.
In addition to our regular screenings, members are often invited to free screenings and other special events.
All films currently sell-out, but last minute tickets are sometimes available because of cancellations. Members are entitled to priority booking for 2 tickets until the Friday before the film. On the Saturday before the film, all remaining seats are allocated first to additional guests of members and, if any seats remain, to non-members requesting tickets. Non-members' requests are usually filled from seats made available when members cancel, often on the day of the film.
When are Films Screened?
Films are generally screened at 7:30 on the third Wednesday of each month (except August and December). PLEASE NOTE THAT THE DOORS TO CANADA HOUSE WILL CLOSE AT 7:25 PM; you will not be admitted after that time. Please arrive by 7:15 pm to allow us to start the film on time.
Information on upcoming films is sent to members and others on our mailing list via email approximately 1-½ weeks prior to the film.
How Do I Book For a Film?
Bookings are taken directly on our web site or by email. We generally respond to requests for tickets within one to two days of receipt.
Pre-payment of tickets via PayPal is required. No refunds can be given. After booking, you will be notified if you have been allocated tickets and how to pay. Please pay promptly or your tickets may have to be allocated to people on our waiting list.
Can I Just Book Every Film?
PLEASE BE CONSIDERATE WHEN BOOKING FILMS. Because the Club can only be a success at these prices if we fill the cinema, we work hard to ensure that all seats are filled from the waiting list. Unfortunately by the time we receive cancellations, many on the waiting list have made other plans. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK UNLESS YOU PLAN TO ATTEND and IF YOU HAVE BOOKED, PLEASE TRY TO ATTEND. If you really do need to cancel, please let us know in plenty of time for us to find a replacement.
Who Attends the Films?
Our membership base is quite varied. As you might expect, many of our members are Canadian. We do, however, have a significant number of non-Canadian members and many of the guests of members are non-Canadian. We have found that the only common factor amongst our members is that they enjoy film.
What is the Cine-Club?
The Cine-Club is an entirely volunteer organisation. We are not members of the film industry or employees of the Canadian High Commission.
